Giving thanks to the Lord

I want to share my joy with you:

On Friday morning I wanted to sing and dance for the Lord I was so full of joy. I felt I understood exactly why King David wanted to, when they brought the Arc of the Covenent back to Jerusalem. Why? Well I was amazed to see how God uses people, how you can find yourself connected to people 'out of the blue' (as they say) and realise God is at work. To explain:

One of our Gambian friend's Father needed a new pacemaker and without the NHS had no way of getting one. We decided to see if we could help and David googled (as you do) and phoned round to see if there were any recycled pacemakers as new ones cost thousands of pounds. He found a charity that did provide recycled pacemakers to 3rd world countries but not Gambia. However the man said he did have a contact in Senegal (which is next to Gambia) a surgeon in one of the hospitals there. David then contacted the surgeon. To cut a long story short it turned out that the UK charity didn't have to send a pacemaker out there as they just happened to have one at the hospital! The surgeon had to get permission to use it as the recycling hadn't been done before and it is treated like an organ. Covid 19 stopped people travelling accross the border into Senegal so all plans were put on hold. With time running out the government gave permission for Mr Cham to go to Senegal and on Friday he received the replacement pacemaker. If it is God's will this could open the door to more people having the chance of having pacemakers.

The surgeon did not ask for any money for himself for doing the operation. When David spoke to the man from the charity on Friday morning to give him an update he said their charity would be able to pay the bill for us. That is not what made me happy, it was the fact that there we were sat in bed talking with a man on the phone who said he was just about to start a new job as a CEO for a health care company. He never chases money but has been fortunate but helping other people was more important to him. We just find it so amazing how this has all worked out. I find this whole situation is filled with God's amazing grace. I have learned that you just need to be willing to be God's hands and feet and He will do the rest. So please join with me in rejoicing and thanking the Lord our God.
