Gambia Update May 2021

Our 6th shipment arrived in Gambia in April. 20 boxes of sporswear donated by Falcon Sports and clothes and shoes donated by neighbours and dresses Lynette and I made together with 6 large bags of football boots and kits that had been collected through Boots 2 Africa.

The clothes were given out at different schools: Manduar Lower Basic School in Kombo Central and the Kids Care Academy Nursery School.

It was at the Manduar Lower Basic School that we learnt that this school has been without water for a year and we asked the builder who is building our property to go and see what the problem is as they do have all the equipment there and a well. Our understanding is that the pump is not the right one for the job and so we have bought one from China which arrived at our house this week and hopefully will be sent out on a container this coming week.

It will take 6 weeks to get there and then the builder will send his technician to see if it resolves the problem, so please pray that the school will be able to have water. The toilets are in a really bad state, the cubicles have leaking rooves which will be a problem during the rainy season which starts towards the end of next month. However it may not be a bad thing as the toilets are holes in the ground with no water ....

I'm pleased to say we still have many more boxes of sportswear to send out and some more donated books and clothes. We are praying that we can go out to Gambia as planned in November and look forward to visiting the schools.

I have added some more photos to the gallery.
